In Binary Confinement, the criminally insane are kept in a virtual reality to separate them from society while maintaining humane conditions.  Alice's job is to evaluate prisoners to ensure they have not become aware of their situation and altered their program. Left alone at the facility before a holiday weekend, Alice's worst fear comes true as the most prolific serial killer hacks his virtual confinement and forces her to relive the the horrors of his life's work.
